Managing your projects efficiently is essential to making the most of your account and avoiding disruptions when creating new projects. This article explains why archiving or deleting projects is important, especially if your account has limitations based on the number of projects or hectares.
Depending on your subscription plan, there are specific limits to the number of projects you can create and the hectares they can encompass. For full details, please refer to your contract.
Active projects are those displayed on the project creator's homepage. Once a project is created, it is accessible at any time and does not require a page refresh to be counted as active. Users can enter and view these projects whenever they choose.
If you hit the limit for active projects or hectares on your account, you won’t be able to create new projects until you free up space. To do this:
Archive old projects to deactivate them while preserving the option to reactivate.
Delete unnecessary projects to permanently free up space.
Regularly Review Your Projects
Periodically review your active projects to determine which can be archived or deleted.
Archive Before Deleting
If you're unsure whether you might need a project in the future, archive it first. You can always delete it permanently later if needed.
Monitor Your Usage
Keep track of your project and hectare usage to avoid hitting the limits unexpectedly.

Archiving Projects
Archiving allows you to deactivate a project while keeping the option to reactivate it later.
This is useful if you might need the project data in the future but don't need it to remain active.
Archived projects do not count toward your active project or hectare limits.

Deleting Projects
Deleting a project permanently removes it from your account.
Use this option if you're certain the project data will no longer be needed.
Once deleted, the data cannot be recovered.
Refer to the How to Delete a Project guide!
When you archive or delete a project, starting from the next billing cycle, you’ll only be charged for active projects: make sure to archive or delete any projects you don’t want to be billed for in the next cycle!
Note that this won’t affect the current cycle’s usage fees. If a project was active during this period, it will be included in the usage charges for this cycle, even if it’s archived or deleted by the end.
