TRACES: the system that EU uses for EUDR compliance

Learn how TRACES-NT and Orbify work together

The EU's official system for managing EUDR Due Diligence Statements (DDS) is TRACES-NT.

However, if your EU customer uses Orbify, you do not need to work directly in TRACES-NT. Orbify supports the EUDR workflow and connects with TRACES-NT, allowing your EU customer to manage due diligence and submit the DDS without entering the same data twice.

The operator is responsible for submitting the DDS. The operator is the first company established in the EU that places the relevant product on the EU market.

Do suppliers outside the EU submit to TRACES-NT?

No.

If you are a supplier established outside the EU, you do not submit the DDS to TRACES-NT yourself.

Your role is to provide your EU customer with the information they need to complete their EUDR due diligence. This can include:

  • Plot geolocations

  • Information about where the commodity was produced

  • Supporting documents

  • Any additional information requested by your customer

Your EU customer uses this information to carry out the required due diligence and, where applicable, submit the DDS to TRACES-NT.

How does Orbify work with TRACES-NT?

Orbify can be used to manage the EUDR workflow from data collection through to DDS submission.

The Orbify platform is connected to TRACES-NT, so information managed in Orbify can be used to create and submit the DDS without manually entering the same data twice.

The EU operator can use Orbify to:

  • Collect plot geolocations and supporting documents

  • Run compliance checks on plots

  • Create shipments and record how much of each commodity comes from each plot

  • Create and submit Due Diligence Statements to TRACES-NT

  • Keep a record of submissions

What do I do as a supplier?

As a supplier, you work in the Orbify Supplier Portal.

The Supplier Portal is a simplified workspace where you provide the information your EU customer needs for their EUDR due diligence.

You do not need to enter the same information directly into TRACES-NT.

Do I need a TRACES-NT account?

No, not to provide your EUDR information through the Orbify Supplier Portal.

If your EU customer has invited you to Orbify, you can provide the requested plots and documents there. Your customer is responsible for reviewing your information, completing the due diligence process, and submitting the DDS to TRACES-NT.
